When I was in the JEA conference, I was exposed to the American students with different personalities. This competition revealed their confident, creative and unique character, which I admired. Moreover, the following talking points of the competition stimulated my passion: like Creating a Quality Interview, The Best of Leads, Don’t Count Them Out and so on. I think these short four days in the Chicago was a wonderful and amusing adventure for me to learn how to communicate. Just as my advisor said, “Be more willing to take an intelligent risk to get a story.”
当我在JEA的会场时，我接触到了不同性格的美国同龄学生。在这次比赛中我非常欣赏和敬畏她们自信、具有创造性和独立的性格。与此同时，许多新颖和专业性的传媒话题激发了我的热情，比如Creating a Quality Interview, The Best of Leads, Don’t Count Them Out等等。在美国芝加哥短短的四天时间，就好像经历了一次奇妙而有趣的冒险，也学会了如何去沟通。正如我的老师说的那样，“勇于尝试有智慧的冒险才能获得好的新闻故事”。
Before the competition, our group made nearly one page of list of topics . We had a lot of agreement at first. Finally,we decided to choose the most risky project "respecting the different hobbies of all individuals",as we wanted to do something meaningful. Some people may not agree with our topic, for example, boys cannon make up in traditional Chinese people’s view.Luckily, with the help of our teachers and classmates, we successfully completed the video.
In this JEA trip, I learnt a lot about the difference between Chinese and American culture. At the evaluation meeting, I found that our works were quite different from those of other contestants in both content and presentation. However, through the interpretation of the cultural background, our risky topic received a lot of praise which impressed our a lot.
